Stein Andreassen

Stein Andreassen (b. 1969) is the founder of Trældal Forlag and the author of the novel *Trældal*. He grew up in Narvik and today lives at Jar in Bærum. Although life and work have taken him many places – with a wife living in Muscat, Oman – his roots still lie in the north, in Narvik and the small village of Trældal by the Rombaks fjord, where his family has lived for generations. By day he works as an IT consultant. Alongside his career he has spent many years immersed in genealogy, local history and historical sources. What began as a wish to understand his own family's history grew into extensive work with photographs, documents, oral accounts and historical records. The result was first the novel *Trældal* – a historical novel inspired by real people and events – and then *Fakta om Trældal*, documenting the village's history. Stein Andreassen writes about people, belonging and the history that shapes us. Through Trældal Forlag he wants to preserve stories that would otherwise be lost, and give new authors the chance to share their own. When he is not writing, you will often find him on his motorcycle or watching a Liverpool match.
